Meeting with the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) Delegation Held at the Academy of Justice
On March 12, the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with a delegation from the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ).
The meeting was attended by the ICJ delegation led by Regional Director Timur Shakirov, as well as the leadership of the Academy of Justice.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of their long-standing cooperation and exchanged views on further strengthening their partnership.
In particular, the Academy of Justice proposed several initiatives aimed at expanding practical cooperation:
— organizing training sessions in the “Moot Court” (courtroom simulation) format, enabling trainees to participate in simulated court hearings applying international human rights conventions;
— introducing case-based learning, including the development of a database of key decisions of international human rights courts and conducting practical training on adapting these decisions to the judicial practice of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
— preparing a textbook for judges and judicial candidates entitled “International Standards of Justice and Human Rights.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and implement the proposed initiatives in practice.
