The Academic Integrity and Ethical Council at the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan is a permanent collegial advisory body established to strengthen the principles of academic integrity, ensure high ethical standards in educational and research processes, and improve the quality of training honest and conscientious personnel for the judiciary.
The Council operates on the basis of relevant Decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decisions of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Regulations "Academic Integrity and Ethical Council of the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan" approved by Decision No. 4 of the Academy Council dated May 19, 2026, and Order of the Rector of the Academy No. 35-um dated May 26, 2026.
Main Goals and Tasks of the Council
The Council operates within the Academy in the following areas:
Implementing and monitoring rules of academic integrity, research ethics, grading transparency, respect for copyright, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence;
Preventing and reviewing cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, cheating, contract cheating, data falsification, and other forms of academic dishonesty;
Instilling the principles of integrity, conscientiousness, impartiality, responsibility, and transparency among trainees, master's students, faculty members, and staff;
Organizing mandatory training sessions, seminars, and courses on academic integrity;
Preventing conflicts of interest and monitoring the compliance of syllabi, assessment tasks, dissertations, and research papers with academic integrity requirements;
Preparing an analytical report on the status of academic integrity at the Academy at the end of each academic year;
Improving the quality of educational and scientific literature, conducting expert evaluations, and recommending them for publication;
Recommending faculty members and trainees for academic titles, competitions, grants, and scholarships.
In its activities, the Council relies on the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, international standards of academic ethics, and the principles of a preventative approach.
Composition and Operational Procedures of the Council
The composition of the Council is approved by the order of the Rector of the Academy and consists of:
6 experienced faculty members;
2 specialists from the Academy;
1 faculty member from another higher education institution;
1 trainee from professional retraining courses;
1 master's student;
2 compatriots and specialists residing abroad.
When forming the composition of the Council, the principles of gender equality, diversity of educational fields, scientific potential, independence, and the avoidance of conflicts of interest are taken into account.
The Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Secretary of the Council are elected at the beginning of each year by secret ballot. Council meetings are conducted based on the principles of collegiality, independence, openness, and impartiality. Decisions are adopted by a simple majority vote.
