Duties and Functions of the Department
The main duties of the Department are as follows:
- introducing information technologies into the activities of the Academy and the educational process, and continuously improving and expanding their use;
- ensuring the organization of online testing to assess the level of initial knowledge, skills and competencies of candidates for judicial positions participating in the Academy’s six-month professional retraining courses, mandatory professional development courses for judges and court staff, retraining courses for judges included in the reserve for managerial positions, as well as applicants to the Master’s degree program in “Judicial Activity”;
- providing practical assistance in developing electronic scientific and methodological materials and textbooks on new information technologies and distance learning, and establishing their dissemination through the Internet and international information systems;
- organizing courses aimed at improving the computer and information technology literacy of Academy staff and students;
- ensuring effective access for Academy staff and students to computer and information technology resources and the Internet;
- providing technical support for the use of computers and information technologies in the educational process;
- providing practical assistance in developing and implementing multimedia and computer-based innovative and virtual laboratory software for practical and educational processes;
- ensuring the effective use of various software applications related to the activities of the Academy;
- establishing and maintaining the computer network;
- organizing the use of information transmission and reception facilities, including the Internet, e-mail, modem communications, and other technologies;
- conducting research in the field of information technologies in cooperation with national and foreign educational institutions and research centers, and establishing cooperation with higher education institutions of foreign countries through the Internet;
- computerizing the organization and implementation of the educational process, creating a unified information environment, and ensuring centralized remote monitoring of the quality of training sessions;
- taking measures to regularly upgrade technical equipment and hardware required for information technologies in accordance with modern standards;
- creating information databases and continuously updating them with relevant information;
- connecting all departments and divisions of the Academy to a unified network;
- continuously updating the Academy’s official website with new information;
- developing proposals for the improvement of information processes and the distance learning system;
- monitoring the targeted, efficient and proper use of all computer equipment at the Academy;
- ensuring access to electronic versions of textbooks and manuals;
- ensuring information and data security.
