The Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan has hosted the opening ceremony of a professional development course for deputy chairpersons of regional and equivalent courts. The training course brings together 35 deputy chairpersons of courts from various regions of the country. The course is conducted over 5 days and comprises a total of 38 academic hours.The opening ceremony was attended by Х.Yodgorov, Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and A.Usmanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In their remarks, they highlighted the ongoing large-scale judicial and legal reforms, the importance of enhancing the professional capacity of judicial personnel, and the responsibilities of court leaders in ensuring effective administration of justice.The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including the essence of judicial reforms, effective cooperation between courts and mass media, contemporary geopolitical developments, stress and time management, as well as current issues in judicial practice.Participants will also have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the practice of the Supreme Court and take part in practical sessions focused on the analysis of criminal, civil, and economic case law.The course is aimed at further strengthening the professional knowledge and skills of deputy chairpersons of courts, enhancing their managerial competencies, and improving the quality of justice administration.

Today, a ceremony was held to sign a cooperation memorandum between the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tashkent State University of Law. At the beginning of the event, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation and put forward a number of proposals and initiatives aimed at further developing educational and scientific activities. In particular, views were exchanged on:• effective organization of student internships;• joint implementation of case studies and simulation exercises;• launching joint master’s degree programs;• expanding international cooperation;• jointly preparing commentaries on нормативе legal documents;• organizing experience-sharing activities between leading specialists and faculty members of both sides. During the meeting, the mutually beneficial aspects of cooperation were especially emphasized, and constructive opinions were expressed in a spirit of trust and partnership. At the conclusion of the event, a cooperation memorandum was signed between the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tashkent State University of Law.

Today, the Academy of Justice hosted a scientific and practical conference on the topic: “Issues Related to the Activities of the Investigative Judge at the Pre-Trial Stage”. The conference, organized on the initiative of the Academy of Justice, focused on current issues in criminal procedural law, modern development trends of the investigative judge institution, and existing challenges in legal practice. Representatives of the country’s leading higher educational and research institutions, experts in the judicial and legal sphere, professors, judges, and legal practitioners took part in the event. During the conference, presentations were delivered on the prospects for the development of the investigative judge institution, ensuring the adversarial principle during pre-trial proceedings, improving the legislative framework, the role of international cooperation, and the historical and legal aspects of the institution. Specialists from Tashkent State University of Law, Karakalpak State University, the Law Enforcement Academy, and the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan also shared their opinions and proposals. At the conclusion of the conference, it was noted that proposals and recommendations aimed at further developing the investigative judge institution would be prepared.

On 5–6 May this year, Tashkent hosted the international forum titled “Judicial and Legal Education and Justice in Turkic States: Digital Transformation and Integration of Advanced Practices.” The forum was organized by the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event brought together representatives of judicial and legal education institutions from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye, educational institutions under the Prosecutor General’s Offices, as well as representatives of international organizations and prominent experts. The forum focused on issues related to the modernization of judicial and legal systems, the introduction of modern approaches to the training and retraining of judicial personnel, and the development of judicial and legal education in accordance with international standards. Participants exchanged views on accelerating digital transformation in the sector, implementing advanced international practices, and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation. As highlighted during the event, Uzbekistan has been consistently implementing large-scale reforms in the judicial and legal sphere in recent years. Ensuring judicial independence, improving the quality of justice, and enhancing the system for training judges in line with international standards have been identified among the country’s priority areas. The forum featured thematic sessions on “The Use of Digital Technologies in the Educational Process,” “International Standards and Advanced Approaches in Judicial Training and Professional Development,” and “Prospects for the Effective Application of Modern Pedagogical Methods in Training Personnel for Judicial and Law Enforcement Bodies.” During the sessions, representatives of the participating countries delivered presentations on the introduction of digital solutions into judicial and legal education systems, the development of e-learning platforms, the application of innovative methods in judicial training, and the expansion of international cooperation. At the conclusion of the forum, the heads of judicial and legal training institutions of the Turkic states signed a joint protocol. The document will serve as an important basis for further strengthening cooperation, exchanging experience, and implementing joint educational programmes. On the second day of the forum, members of foreign delegations visited the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Guests familiarized themselves with the Academy’s activities, educational process, research work, and modern infrastructure. During the visit, presentations were delivered on the Academy’s “Electronic Education” software system, academic curricula, and research activities. In particular, the advanced approaches used in shaping the psychological profile of future judges attracted considerable interest among participants. In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The document is expected to elevate bilateral cooperation in the field of judicial and legal education to a new level. At the end of the forum, participants were introduced to Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage through a special cultural programme. In particular, visits were organized to the Center of Islamic Civilization and the historical monuments of Samarkand. Overall, the international forum served as an important platform for discussing contemporary trends in judicial and legal education, studying advanced practices, and further strengthening cooperation among the Turkic states.
